Engineering team from Northwestern University places first at Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference

Congratulations to a team of mechanical engineering students from Northwestern University who clinched the top spot at the most recent ASME/SME Student Manufacturing Design Competition for a project inspired by HAMMER.

Margaret Gao, a recent alumna of Northwestern University, presented the desktop robotic English wheel system on behalf of the team during the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) conferences.

Jian Cao, Director of the Northwestern Initiative for Manufacturing Science and Innovation, was one of the advisors to the winning team, whose entry earned them a monetary award. Cao is a co-PI for HAMMER in addition to the convergent research lead.
